ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

TO TBS KDITOE OF THE PRESS. Sir, —Your report of the meeting of the Acclimatisation Society iv this morning's P&kss is entirely misleading as far as I myseif am concerned. A report was brought mc that some persons were fishing in an unsportsmanlike manner on the tielwyn, and I simply sent it on to the Society for inquiry in justice to the anglers against whom the charge was made. In your acconnt of the meeting I am made out to be the originator of the report, which is wholly and entirely untrue. I did not know the gentlemen against! whom the charge was made, nor do I now, bat it being a matter of common

report I sent it to the Society to sift, with a suggestion of how it should be dealt with.— Yours, &c, W. H. Spackman. May's road, Papanui, December sth, 1895.
