WELLINGTON AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.

WELLINGTON, November 23.

The Amateur' Athletic Club sports, which were postponed from last Saturday on account of the rain, were held this afternoon under favourable circumstances as regards weather, although the track was very heavy. There was a large attendance, of the public. J. McGuire won the 100 yards maiden in llsec, with 15yds start, he also won the 250 yards handicap in 28sec. The 100 yards handicap resulted: — A. M. Stuart, syds, 1; F. Galloway, syds, 2; A. J. Abbott, Byds, 3. Time, 10 3-5 th sec. H. Davies, with 15 yards start, - won the half-mile handicap in 2min 6 3-sth sec; W. R. Herbert, 30yds, 2. A. J. Abbott, with 3 yards, won the 100 yards junior handicap in 10 4'sch sec. The one mile walk was won by J. Perrett, 200 yds, in 6min 49 4-sth sec. The one mile fiat handicap resulted:— 8. P. Hawthorne, 20 yds, 1; C. H. Gordon, 100 yds, 2; C. W. Palmer, 31 yds, 3. Time, 4rniu 44 2-sth sec. A. W. Bell (Manawatu A.A.C.), scr, finished fourth. F. Pownall, owes 4 yds, won the 120 yards hurdles in 18 4-sth sec; A. Gore, owes 10 yds, second. The three miles flat handicap resulted :— S. P. Hawthorne, scr, 1; A. W. Bell (Manawatu), ser, 2; C. W. Palmer, 100 yds, 3. Time, lomin 3 3-sth sec, which beat the Club's standard time by 6 2-sth sec. W. Rankin (Wanganoi) and F. C. Angell also started, but gave up. M. R. Herbert, with 18 yds, won the LadiesNßracelet, 440 yards, in 54 l-sth sec; A. J. Abbott, 20 yds, second. F. S. Broome won the long jump, covering 19ft 7in, including allowance of lft 6in. W. C. Rhodes (Auckland A. A. Club, put the 161b weight 35ft lin, and, besides winning the event, broke the Club's standard by lin. F. B. Muir, 15 yds, won the half-mile bicycle handicap in lmin 29 3-sth sec ; A. H. Hunt, 25yds, second. G. Jeffrey, 40 yds, won the two-mile event, for roadsters, in 6min 24sec, and, with 50 yds, aluo carried oif the three-mile event in 9min 29 2-sth sec, Muir being second in both races.
