SYDNEY, November 23.

At the oyoling oarnival, the weather was threatening and a light ahower or two fell. The attendance was even larger than on last Saturday. Zimmerman was taken ill last Friday night, and hie doctor ordered him not 'to yet he persisted in assisting at the meeting, but had to retire after covering three laps in the Championship ract, which was a great disappointment to the public. The League, in recognition of hispluok, gave him £100 extra as his share of the enormous fiuanoial success of the meeting, and {also donated £25 to the Italian rider Porta, who had t.he misfortune to break hie arm. A similar sum was given to Martin, the American, in recognition of his fine display in the Metropolitan Raoe. The following are the results; — Five Mile Championship — Parsons 1, Lewis 2, Iredale 3. Thirteen riders started, and all but the placed men and Megson fell out completely beaten before two miles had been covered, and the latter fell out eaon after the two miles were completed. Lewia led to within a.-l&P from home, when Parsons came with- a freat rush, and won by a dozen yards, redale was badly beaten. Time, 12min 16 l<sbh sec, which is the record for the ground. The winner received a great ovation. League Handicap — Poole (Victoria), 70yds, 1 • Mooro (Newcastle), 65yde, 2; Harkness, 60yds, 3. Won easily. Time, lmin 8 2-sth sec. Metropolitan Handicap — Meadham, 65yds, 1; Minnie, 20yds, 2; Martin (America), ecracch, 3; Payue, 25yds, 4. A magnificent finish, not a yard separating the four. Time, 2min 21 l-sth sec. Martin rode a splendid race. He covered the last half-mile in lmin Bseo, and the three* quarter milo in lmin 45 l-sth sec. Meadham also won the Three Mile Open Handicap in 7min 42 310 th sec. At the paying over of the prize money Zimmerman stated that his half-mile win last Saturday was the hardest race he ever rode. He also said he had never been treated anywhere with such' generosity as he had in the colonies.
