SENIOR CUP MATCHES.
MIDLAND v LANCASTER PARK.
This match was advanced another stage at Hagley Park on Saturday, when an even day's cricket was witnessed. Oα the first day the Park had completed their first innings for 117 and the Midland had lost three wickets for 3K. Re,esß and Treweek being thefto| dnta?' ' ; |)n"ly ! 3 runus were added before Treweek'was disposed of.- Pearce, who hit hard for hie rubs, and Reese added 26 for the next wicket, but the others gave but little assistance, and the venture closed for 111, or 6 rune to the bad. The wicket was in favour of the bowlers, and Haaell and Labatt both secured good averages, while the fielding was good all round. Cuff and H. C. Ridley started the '. Lancastrians' second venture and 48 were totalled before the latter was given out leg before wicket. Labatt soon knocked up 8 ami then hit his wicket, and with the scoreat72 Cuff was given out leg before wicket. Of the others, Wilding was the only one to make a long stand, but he' was missed twice before he returned a ball £o Lawrence, which was held. Notwithstanding these catches miseed the fielding was good, and D. Reese was very successful with the ball. The Park innings terminated a few minutes before six o'clock, bus YVhea'ley refused to send his men in to bat, as he and Cuff had arranged ou the first day to draw stumps at 6 p.m. Cuff averred that the arrangement was for the first day only, but Wheatley stated he understood it to be for the match.
