Mr John Burns was charged at the Court to-day with assaulting Savers, the valet of a Conservative partisan, at Battersea. They met in the street, and Sayers called Burns a liar and a cowardly cur, to which the latter responded with a blow in the mouth, breaking Sayers' teeth. The charge was dismissed on the ground of provocation. SIR HENRY IRVING. The Queen knighted Mr Irving and many others to-day. She especially addressed Sir Henry Irving as follows: —" I have very much pleasure." SIR SAMUEL WILSON'S ESTATE. The personalty, in England, in the estat9 of Sir Samuel Wilson was £135,459. ACTUARIES' EXAMINATIONS. The following have passed the actuaries' examination :—Part 2, Mr Galway, Wellington; part 8, Mr Muter, Wellington. RUMOURED RISING IN MACEDONIA, Constantinople, July 16. Persistent, thcugh unconirmed, rumours are afloat that a rising has taken place in Macedonia, and that a village and a number of bridges have been destroyed. THE KHEDIVE. The Khedive has arrived here. THE "BLACK FLAGS." Shanghai, July 18. It is reported that the "Black Flags" inflicted a serious defeat on the Japanese in Formosa.
