Auckland, July 15. The only match of interest oi Saturday was a practice match bafeween the Probable and Possible reps for the AucklandGUborne contest, which is to take piaca nest Saturda-. The B team won by 18 points to 16. The A forwards, as a whole, were outclassed in almost every department of the same. The pick of bietca of the A team were Surinan, Wynvard. Ronayne, Smith and Rilej, an* of the forwards Brady, Gittos, and F. Murray did beet. In the B learn the most serviceable of the back* were Stevenson, Clayton, Masefleld and Sutherland and of the forwards Whiteley, Speizht, Erettand Brown. The scores were obtained as follows:— For the A'a tries were gained by Breen, Surman, Green and R uiiyne and 2 tries were converted by Murray. For the B team tries were secured by Evitt (1), Masefleld (2), Whiteley (1) and 3 were converted by Clayton. In the evening the Selection Committee met and picked the following team to play asainst Gisborne :—Smith, Surman, G»ge, Riley, Wynyard.Ronayne.Braund, Brady, Uittos, F. Murray, Heflernan, M*Millan, Whiteley, Green and Donald; emergencies Clayton, Stevenson, Caradus, S. Brown and Williamson. By the s.«. Corinna this afternoon the Poverty Bay team arrived. The team was met on the wharf by Mr G. H. Dixou (secretary of the Aucklaun R igby Union). They were taken to the Central Hotel where they stop during their stay in Auckland. The visitor* proceed to the Thames, where they play a match rgainst the representative team of the district on Thursday, returning to Auckland on Friday and meet Auckland at Potter's paddock as above stated. The Gi«borne men had a pleasant trip up the coast. The following are their names, weights and positions :—Full-back, C. Hillson list; three-quarters, E. Skeet 12<t, T. Hillaon 9at 21b and B. R. Murphy I2it 71b: halves, E. Rees list 131b, H. Burns 9st 7ib and J. Murphy 12st; forwards Poynter 13<st 31b, Caulton 12st slb. Gtitfitb* 12it4lb, Armer list 61b, Pittl2it, Crawford 10-»t 101b, Eskdale 13st, aud Bill list 10ib; emergency. Sharp list. This gives an average weight of list 91b. Mr W. Millar accompanies the team as manager. The Auckland teams leave for the south, Tuesday, August loth. Their Orst match will bo against Hawke's Bay at Napier on the following Thursday. They then meet South Canterbury at Timaru on August 19th; Ota go at Dunedin on August 21th ; Canterbury at Curie:church on August 28th : Wellington on August 31st; Nelson on September 2nd, and laranaki on Fiiday September G.b, returning borne on September 7.
