FOOTBALL.
W. Mendel*on, the ex-Now Zealander, played full-back for Cambridge University against Rosslyn Park ou December Bth, but after the game had been in progress twenty minutes his injured knee gave way again and he had to re'ire. The Cantabs won by 23 points to nil. It was owing to this accident that Mendelson f «l*d to get hl« Bluo in the Inrer-' Varsity match played on December 12th, which contest, as mentioned in this journal last week, resulted in a draw. E. Field, who has played full-back far England in international matches, was prevailed upon to take tho New Zeolandetf* position. Thomas scored a try for Oxford, which Donaldson converted, and Jacob obtained a try for Cambridge, Mitchell kicking a fine goal fiora the place. The Oxonians were hard pressed towards the close, and the London papers say they were decidedly lucky in making a draw ot it. For some unexplained reason the refereo only allowed thirty minutes' play in the second spell, and one paper say*, as tho light: %raj , HtiU fairly good, it would appaar as if he had made a miscalculation. Of the twenty-two matches played Oxford has won 8, Cambridge 7, aud the remaining 7 have been drawn. A team of the Manniughnm F.C. visited Paris early in December nnd defeated t*i« Stade Francais by 2 goals and 6 tries (27 points) to nil.
