esajj Association—By Telegraph—Co^yrig^t London, January 16. . The Ruahine'a butter brought 96a to 100s, choicest quality up to 102 a. The oheese which arrived in excellent oonditiou brought 45a to 48a. The total quantity of wool arrived to date is 237,600 bales, of which 44,000 bales have been sent forward direct to the manufacturing districts. With the quantity lefto over from the last series there will be 256,000 bales available for the piesent series. The: total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 3,220,000 quarters, and for the Continent 910,000 quarters. The American visible wheat supply is estimated at 117,000,000 bushels; At thewool sales a good catalogue was presented, and prices are maintained* The bidding is fair;; especially for stylish combing wool. The buyers are chiefly from the OjnHnent, but a few good lota are taken to America. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have reoeived the following London cable message, dated 15th January :— Wool—The sales opened this day at ptioes ruling in buyers' favour. The principle decline has been in medium and inferior greasy wool, which has declined id per lb. Attendance of both Home ana Foreign buyers is normal, but there is a want of confidence in the bidding, and a limited demand. The total quantity available, including wool held over from last series, is 300,000 bales, of which 44,000 bales, have been fprwarded to the manufacturing districts direct, Messrs Dalgety and Company, Limited, are in receipt of cable advice from their London office that the wool sates opened with a large attendance of buyers. Competition fairly animated,' but indifferent selection of wools. No Kiverina were on offer. Prices are, on the average, from par to 5 per cent, lower than the closing rates of last series, particularly for inferior and faulty wools. The total number of bales available of colonial Australasian and Cape wools, including! old ttooke, is 258,000.
