RIFLE SHOOTING.
On Saturday the match for Lieut. Simpson's inkstand was continued by the Kaiapoi Rifles at 200 and 500 yards, seven shots at each, and the best scores were:—Private N. G. Robilhard (scr) 51, 5 points; Private Hanna (hep 5) 51, 4 points ; Private F. N. Ro»billiard'(hcp 2) 50, 3 points ; Private S. A. McGregor (hep 4) 50, 2points; Private J. Higgins (scr) 49, 1 point. The highest Averages are—Private N. G. Robilliard 12, Privates F. N. Robilliard and G. Templeton each 10, Private Fantham 8, Sergeant Winterbourn, Privates Higgins and Hanna each 7.
A competition took place on Saturday afternoon among the members of the Lyttelton Navals for the champion belt of the company, '.the conditions were seven shots at 200, 300, 500 yards. Gunner Graham proved the vinner, the principal scores being Gunner Graham 67, Petty Officer Wallace 57, Gunner Day 54, Gunner McMinn 52, Petty Officer Sowden 51, Gunner Henstone 47, Gunner Hustone 47.
