MELBOURNE NOTES.
Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright. MELBOURNE. March 9. The Victoria Amateur Turf Club has sent a letter of condolence to the widow of the jockey McGowan. Dr. Flannigan, the surgeon who is attending Buxton, reports that his patient is prog< essitig so favourably that he expects bim to be convalescent in the course of a few days. Owing to the severe heat, combined with the terrific pace at which the race was run, the services of a veterinary surgeon were rendered necessary for Hova after the Champion S akes yesterday.
