(PBXSS ASSOaUXXOK TUAQKAMS.) AUCKLAND, March 7. Misa Movbray woo the tennis championship of Auckland, beating Miss Spiers, the champion of New Zealand. Messrs Cornish and Havard, employees in the Auckland Star machine department, won a £2000 prize in TaUersaU's sweep. The Mararoa and Tasmania took away between 400 and 500 passengers for Sydney from all New Zealand porta. At a meeting of gum diggers at Dargaville it waa decided to present a petition to the Premier s»nd Executive Council pleading inability to earn a livelihood at gum digging, and asking the Government, to institute public works in Northern Wairoa to tide over the depression existing. WELLINGTON, March 7. At a meeting of the Palmerston North Gas Company the report declaring a dividend of 5 per cent, was adopted. The Chairman, Mr Pnarazyn, explained that they would have been able to show a better result bub for the expenditure on the uew plant, the fall benefit of which was not yet felt. The Land Department are sending oat 2400 copies of the " Land Guide" for distribution to public institutions in Australia and India. A boU buoy is being placed on the Beef Barrel rocke, near the French Pass. DUNEDIN, March 7. The Workers' Political Committee passed the following resolution:—" That in view of the vote for the Qtago Central being unexpended, and there being a large number of unemployed at present in the labour market, the Minister of Works be urged to continue work on the line." It was also resolved to urge the members of affiliated Unions to record their votes at the licensing elections in favour of Temperance candidates. The Fanciers , Club to-night decided to take ateps towards affiliating with the Poultry Association. At tne Presbytery meeting the resignation of the Rev. Mr Davidson, of Knox Church, was accepted with great regret.
