CYCLING AND SWIMMING AT ASHBURTON.
The cycling road race of the Ashburton Amateur Cycling Club, Tinwald to Laghmor and back j sixteen miles, came off yesterday afternoon. .-Eight riders started, and R. Shearman (2inin handicap) won the race by a wheel's length from H. Curtis (3min 35sec), the actual time being 52min 22sec— passable work. The Swimming Club had their monthly competition iv the Domain bath, and D. Curtis won the 30 yards da3h in 30sec, with a handicap of 4sec, A. Williams 2, L. Audrews 3. In the 220 yards race Frauk Williams was first, with oOsec handicap, timo smin 14sec j E.-Purchase 2, W. Burua 5. Xα the juniors' 75 yards race, W, Purchase (scr) and H. Page (2sec) were equal first.
