A meeting of creditors in the estate of Matthew James Sherwin, hotelkeeper, .was hell at the Official Assignee's office yesterday morning. ! The debtor's statement showed unsecured ! creditors £465 9a 7d ; assets, book debts, j £125 12a sd, estimated to produce £60; cash in hands of Mr Morns £96 lie 8J ; total assets. £156 11s Bd, leaving a deficieucy of £308 17s lid. j The Driucipal unsecured creditors were: — I Fenerty and Buddie £26 Is 6d, H. Mace £10 5s 6d, James Monk (Kaiapoi) £40 3s, H. E. Shepherd '£10, W. A. Strahan (Kaiapoi) £12 13 7d, Wood, Shaud aud Co. £45 Issd, JFleteher, Humphreys £2510s 7d, Lasuellee »ud Glen £44 8s 2d, W. A. Taylor (Rangiora) £70, W. Fraser (Kaiapoi) £25 17s Id, Public Trustee (amount of debts and costs re Norman v.-Sherwiu) £25, Joynt and Andrews £18 8a ld» Rainbow and Son £11, Boyd and Kerf (Rangiora) £12 15s, The bankrupt stated that all the assets in the estate, witn the exception of the book debts, had been realised under a deed of aisiu;nmeut. : Had been lessee of the Courteuay Arms Hotel for over two years, but had lost money while in possession of it. Several pecuniary losses, together with a failing business, had resulted in •■ huviug to seek the protection of •'.he Court. ' After questioning the. debtor as to certain transactions in land, the estate was left to be dealt with in the usual manner.
