Jasper Smyth to moveThat the Church Property Trustees be requested to urge the City Council to form the roads round the Christchurch Cemetery Reserve, and aa soon as such roads are formed that the Trustee take immediate steps to sell the said Cemetery Reserves. HI. Mr H. R. Webb to moveThat this Synod views with satisfaction the action of the Bishop and the representatives of tho several Christian denominations in resolving to endeavour to introduce into tho primary schools of the colony the Irish text books, as now in use in New South Wales, and would ask the members of the Church in this diocese to give tho movement their hearty support. IV. The Yen. Archdeacon Cholmondeley to move — That the Synod requests the Standing Committee to cause search >to be made for all records connected with the history of tho diocese and the proceedings of the Synod, and to take steps for the arrangement, preservation and safe custody of tho same. V. The Yen. Archdeacon Cholmondeley to move— That the Standing Committee be requested to take into consideration the best means to be adopted to secure the safe custody of the parochial registers. VI. The Yen. Archdeacon Cholmondeley to move— The Synod has learned with regret that) the Very Rev. the Dean, in consequence of increasing ago and infirmities, has resigned the active duties of his.office. It desires to place on record its sincere appreciation of the able and faithful services rendered by him, not only to the diocese, but to the church of this province r services whioh have extended over the long course of years which has passed since tho foundation of the Canterbury settlement, and which have been rendered in a great variety of spheres of usefulness, It expresses its earnest hope that the Dean may be spared for many years of wellearned retirement, during which the Church may continue to retain the benefit of his scholarship and wide experience. Otway to moveThat the Church Property Trustees be respectfully requested to consider whether they cannot provide the sum of £225, or a portion thereof, from the Bishopric Estate, towards the payment of the stipend of tho Organising Secretary of the Church Missiou [ Fund, in ao.orc_.nce with the resolution of Synod, 1891. VIII. The Dean to move—

That this Synod respectfully requests the President to move the General Synod, at its next session,; to reconsider the important legislation affecting the Constitution, adopted at its last session iv February, 1892, namely, the alteration of elavuea 4

and 30, and the addition of the new clause SI. IX. Rev. H. Williams to move— L That in the opinion of Synod the ,financial results to the Church Mission fund of the appointment of an Organising Secretary do not warrant the continuance of such an officer, and instructs the Standing Committee to make no other appointment upon the termination of the existing engagement with the Organising Secretary. At the same time Synod desires to recognise the marked ability, zeal and fidelity with which the Rev. J. F. Teakle, 8.A., has discharged the difficult and onerous duties in connection with this office. 2. That Synod respectfully requests the Archdeacons of the diocese to take the oversight, either personally at their visitation, or by associating others with them, of the organisation now in existence for collecting funds and awakening interest on behalf of the Church Mission Fund. X. Rev. E. Eliot Chambers to moveThat this Synod votes, out of the income of the General Trust Estate the sum of £50, for promoting the work of Sunday schools in the diocese, such sum to be at the disposal cf the Standing Committee for the before-mentioned purpose. XL Mr March to moveThat this Synod requests his lordship the Bishop, during the recess, to appoint a Commission to enquire into and investigate the presentapplicationof theincomefrom tbe General Trust Estate, regard being paid to the original object of the Trust, and that the report of the Commission, together with the evidence taken, be laid on the table of the Synod at the next session, together witji such recommendations as the Commission may think proper to make. XVII. Rev. \V. A. Pascoe, to move—That this Synod concurs in the appointment by the Bishop of the following clergy and laity to be assessors of the Bishop's Court:—Clergy—Very Rev. the Dean of Christchurch, Yen. the Archdeacon of Timaru and Westland, Yen. the Archdeacon of Akaroa, Yen. the Archdeacon of Christchurch, the Rev. Canon Cotterill, Rev. J. W. Stack. Hon. Sir John Hall, Hon. J. B. A. Acland, Mr H. R. Webb, Mr G. Mclntyre, Mr R. J. S. Harman, Mr W. H. Hargreaves. XVI. The Very Rev. the Dean to move—

That thi. Synod desires to give expression to its sympathy with the Most Reverend Bishop Hadfield on the occasion of his retirement, in consequence of his advanced age, from the high office of Primate of the Church of this Province, and wishes at the same time to testify its admiration and reverence for his high character and ability, and for the noble work which he has been privileged to accomplish during the past fifty-five years, both in the evangelisation of the Native race and in the building up and development of the constitution and organisation of the Church of this Province. The Synod desir_3 to add the expression of its hope and prayer that his Lordship may be permitted to enjoy health and comfort in his retirement for many years to come. That the President be respectfully requested to convey this resolution to the Most Reverend Bishop Hadfield. XV. Mr Brittan to move — 1. That the Synod directs the Church Property Trustees to sell the piece of land, originally 2 acre 3, part rural section 366 a, Kaiapoi, purchased for a cemetery. 2. That the proceeds of the sale should be applied, in accordance with - the Church Property Trust Act, 1879, to general Church purposes. XIV. Rev. W. A. Pascoe to move— That this Synod gratefully acknowledges the liberality of the laity during the past year, as shown in the increased contribuoutions for ecclesiastical aud charitable purposes. XIIL Mr J. Baldwin to move— That the Church Property Trustees be instructed to pay over to the Standing Committee a sufficient sum to enable the usual grant of £50 to be made to each cure in the diocese. XIL Mr H. R. Butcher to moveThat the assistance of laymen in Church work be further encouraged.
