AUCKLAND NOTES.

September 25. A considerable amount of correspondence has taken place between the Auckland Presbytery and the Rev. S. J. Neil, Presbyterian minister of Thames, with reference to the public teaching of the latter, which, ib was alleged by the Presbytery, was not in accordance witn the standard of the Church. It was asserted that Mr Neil held Theosophical beliefs. Mr Neil replied recently to the Presbytery at considerable length, asserting that his teaching was in strict conformity with scripture. The Presbytery have not taken any further action to follow up this matter, but it is reported that they contemplate other proceedings. In the course of nis last letter, Mr Neil says, " Because I prefer the words of the Maeter Himself and the power and simplicity of Christianity as it issued from its founder to the muddy waters of creeds I am to be regarded as a heretic."
