NEW ZEALAND BANDS' ASSOCIATION.
The Executive of the New Zealand Bands , Association held a meeting on Saturday evening. Present —Messrs R. Trist Searell (Chairman), D. McKillop, W. Oliver, J. Cuaack, A. Gordon, J. Painter, and Hon. Secretary (W. Mansell). Apologies were received for Messrs Hughes aud McLean. The minutes having been read were confirmed. Correspondence was received from Beseon and Co., Boosey and Co., Hawkea and Son (London), Dresden Piano Company (Duuedin), and W. H. Glen (Melbourne), InvercargOl Garrison, <fee On the motion of Mr Gordon the Secretary was directed to make further application to the Railway Commissioners and Union Company setting forth the claims of bandsmen to a reduction on the ordinary holiday fares. The Secretary was also instructed to write to each unaffiliated band requesting their assistance by affiliating to the Association, and to explain the importance of strengthening the organisation by additional bands becoming members. Lists of membership in accordance with the roles, i<?., three months prior to date tof contest, were ordered to be sent for the ' Secretary to notify bands of tne same. On the motion of Mr R. T. Seakell, a hearty vote of thanks was passed to the Dresden ; Piano Company, Dunedin, for their handsome present of plated cornet, class A, manufactured by Boosey and Sons, of London. A similar vote was also passed to Glen and Co., Idelbourne, for their parcel of music
