FOOTBALL.

In the match Drapers v Farmers' Cooperative, played yesterday on Hagley Park, the former won by 14 points (2 goals and 2 tries) to 5 points (1 goal). For the Drapers Vangioni, Watson, Berry, and Allan secured tries, and Berry converted two of them. The score for the Co-operative was obtained by Gibson, whose try was converted by Petrie. ( During the first part of the first spell the game was very even. Then the Drapers held a decided advantage until just upon half-time, when their opponents obtained their score. In the second spell the Drapers had much the best of the game, and while they scored, themselves prevented the Co-operative from crossing their lines. Mr Lang acted as referee. The annual match takes place. to-morrow between the Canterbury College and Otago University team* at Dunedin. The College team, which leaves by the express to-day, will be composed of the following:— Craddock (2), Cresswell, Craig, Buchanan (2), Ward, Speight, Haast, Ivens, Gibson, Rutherford, Dawson, Erskine, West. A match between teams from the two town Clubs, Timaru and Union, came off at Timaru yesterday. Much interest was taken in it, and there was a large attendance. A heavy and somewhat rough forward game was won by the Union by one try to nothing. (PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) WELLINGTON, June 29. At a preliminary meeting of the Council of the New Zealand Football Association there were present:—Messrs L. Tripp (Canterbury) in the chair, J. R. Gibbons. (Auckland), A. Henderson (Wellington), and A. E. Gibbs, Acting Secretary. Mr Henderson was elected Secretary, and Mr Gibbs Hon. Treasurer. The further election of officers was postponed. A good deal of discussion took place as to the tournament, but no definite conclusion was arrived at, most of the delegates being still in communication with their Associations for instructions.
