Dadabhai Nacroji, the Parsee member of the House of Commons, contends that the closing of Indian mints is entirely in the interests of officials, and will increase the burden of the taxpayers. June 29. Great disturbance in the trade with China is feared through the action of the Indian Council in closing the mints. American mina owners are offering silver in London at 2s 9^d. Washington, June 23. / Business in Denver city, Colorado, is paralysed, and many mines have closed down. / June Senator Brand declares the/action of India will force Congress to/consider the adoption of bi-metallianx Sydney/ June 29. The silver crisis has had an adverse effect on the local spVer market, and there has been a considerable drop in the value of shares! It is expected that the fall in the price of silver/will have the effect of closing three of the mines at Broken Hill. It is' stated that the Proprietary mine can make a profit even if silver drops to 2s 6d per oz.
