WAIMAKAMRI RIVER BOARD.
The usual monthly meeting of the South "Waimakariri River Board was held at 2 p.m. yesterday, when there were present Messrs W. Bo«g (Cbairunui), R. M. Taylor, J. GlanYiil«% C. F. Money, and H. Crooks. The overseer reported that there had been only one small Hood in the river during the past month, but no damage had been doce to the works. There had been no change at Chaney's since last meeting. One man was engaged in cutting gorse.on the Boards reserves. Mr Treleavea wrote elating that he \rished to give up the temporary lease of the small reserve held by him at Burwood. The Secretary was authorised to re-let the reserve. The Railway Department wrote, offering twenty truck loads of stoce to be delivered at Chaney's. It was decided to take the stone on the terms offered.
Mr R. Levoi wrote, resigning bis aeat on the Board, owing to hia transference to Wellington. .
The Secretary was instructed to take the necessary steps to fill up the vacancy The Clerk to the Templetoa Rnad Board wrote enclosing baUnce of last year's rates. It was resolved that in acknowledging the receipt of the sazne to compliment Mr freeman on the way in which he had collected the rate. Accounts to the amount of £73 Os Id were passed for payment, Mr H. Crook gave notice of motion for next meetang re the striking of thy annual rate. The oraft of a letter to be sent to the Railway Commissioners and the Minister of Lands, regarding the work doce by the Board at Umnoys Corner which had prevented aamage being done to the railway line, and «*mg the Commissioners for a grant of rubble stone for protective purposes, was approved.
