COURTENAY.
A meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday, December 6th mat. Present— Messrs J. Gough (Chairman), T. H. Ausou, H. A. Kuight, 0. Dysart, C. Rudd, T. Needham aud G. Watson. Iv accordance with notice given at laat meeting of the Boacd, Mr Anson moved—That the Board do offer a reward of £5 to any person or persons giving such information as will lead to the first conviction o£ any traction eugine driver contravening by-law\. No. 1 of tho amended by-laws of the Sehvyn County Council relating to traction eugine3. Carried. Correspondence was read:—From the Selwyn County Council, stating that it was agreed that any fines> recovered for breaches or the above-mentioned by-laws should be handed over to the Road Board or Boards whose action might, result in a fine beiug inflicted. From the Charitable Aid Board, with printed list of recipients of aid from the Board's funda, requesting that the same may be available for inspection at tho Board's office, aud soliciting information re the circumstances of any ol the cases which the Board may think tit to impart. From G. Good, agreeing to lease Res. 1712 for a further term of Be>ren years on the same terms as before. From G. A. Mangin, applying to be relieved of atorm water collecting on his land on the upper side of Adams's road. Surveyor authorised to put in pipe culvert across the road. From F. H. Brittan, applying for permission to put up fence and gates across Dunn's road. Permission granted on the usual conditions, From VY. Stott, J. Brabazon and T. Hughes, applying for open crossings across roads for water-race water. From H. VV. ActonAdams, re ruts on Sandy Knolls road. Surveyor to attend to it. From F. Holmes, asking for some allowance to be made him on account of having to purchase gravel for contract No. 290. Declined, as all tenderers for the work were aware that the bulk of the gravel necessary for the work would have to be purchased by the contractor. ' Re3olved that tho Surveyor be instructed to call for tenders for the cutting, grubbing, and removal of gorse from roads where the occupiers of the adjoining land have failed to comply with the notice of the Board for the work, tendei'3 to be sent in by the 20th host., the work to be done at the occupiers' expense, aud the cost of same, if necessary, to be recovered by legal process, as provided for by the Public Works Act. Sundry accounts having been passed for payment, the Board adjourned till Tuesday, January 10th, 1893.
