CASH AMATEUR BICYCLE CLUB.
Second Day. The weather for the second day's racing trader the auspices of the NewZealafld Cash Amateur Bicycle dub, at Lancaster Park on Saturday, was not altogether favourable, s* strong npr'wester prevailing. This, no doubt, militated against the attendance, and there was not a large number present when the proceedings commenced, und a thousand was about the total later on. The racing was on the whole fairly good. Following are the results :—
Half-mile Bicyile Handicap ; first prize 5 soys, second 2 soys, third 1 soy—Final heat, J. A. Bate, 20yds, 1; R. P. Clarkson, 15yds, 2; F. C. Forbes, 55yds, 3. C. R. WUson 10yds, J. Boyd 10yd3, R. L. Adame 60yds, A. R. Barker 80yds, and A. J. Bo.jy 110 yds, and F. C. Bury 120 yds, also started. Body led all the way, and although Bate came up well in the last 200 yards Body maintained his advantage, and won by a yard and a half. Clarksou a yard bebiud Bate. Forbes fourth. Time, lmui b5 3-sth sec. A protest was entered lgainst Body on the ground of his machine aeiog only 441b in weight instead of 551b as entered. The protest was upheld, and Body was disqualified for the race.
Iwo-uiile Roadster Handicap ; first prize 3 soys, second 2 soys, third 1 sov—Firsf. heat, J. B. Ciarkson, 300 yds. 1 ; F. SUee, 450 yds, 2 ; T. H. Richards. 300 yds, 3. E. J. Craighead, 350 yds, and H. Thompson, 400 yds, also started. Clarkson caught ytace two laps from home, and won easily by three lengths. Richards slowed up in the last lap, and the other two did not finish. Time, smia 45sec. Second heat, E. Stace, 450 yds, 1;A. J. Body, 250 yds, 2; R. L. Adams, 300 yds, 3; T. Clarkson, scr; A. R. Barker, 350 yds, and A. G. Truscott, 350 yds also started. There was little interest in the race till the last lap, Adams, Barker, Stace and Truscotfc were riding together, Body some distance away. A good race home ensued, Stace winning by a yard from Body, who came up with a fast run, Adams same distance away, third, Barker close up, fourth. Time, smin 37 l-sthsec.
One Mile Championship of New Zealand ; first prize 6 soys and gold medal value £3 33, second 8 soys, third 1 soy— W S. McCombe 1, R. P. Clarkson 2, J. A. Bate 3. L. B. Scharp, A. C. Duff, R. Fraser, J. Young, C. R. Wilson, J. Boyd, H. Thompson, and E. J. Lilly also started. Thompson made the race for a lap and then retired, 1 raser taking up the runniug followed by Lilly, McOombe, Clarkson, and Scharp. On entering thd la9t lap McCombe went to the front, Bates, Lilly, and Clarkson being his nearest attendants. McCombe rode the lap right out, and Clarkson coming with a late run beat Bate on the tape for second place, and was only a foot behind the Australian. Lilly was a good fourth, time, 2min 44sec.
Five Mile Roadster Handicap ; first prize 4 soys, second 2 soys, third 1 sov—F. Stace, 900 yds, 1; J. B. Clarkson, 600 yds, 2; J. A. Body, 500 yds, 3. T. Clarkson ser, E. J. Craighead 700 yds, and E. Scaca 900 yds also started. Ciarkson made a good effort to reduce his handicap, but being nearly half a lap to the bad in the la3t mile he gave up. J. B. Clarkson and F. Stace rode together, and in the run home the latter had the best of it, and won by a machine length and a half, Body, 50yds away, third. None of the others finished. Time, 14min .24sec.
Three Mile New Zealand Wheel Race Handicap (test series) ; first prize 40 soys, third 3 soys—C. R. Wilson, scr, 1 ; J. Boyd, scr, 2; R. P. Clarkson, 50yds, 3. W. S. McCoinbe scr, J. Bate 30yd3, E. J. Lilly 30yds, T. Clarkson 125 yds, R. Fraser 200 yds, and J. "Young 450 yds, also started. This race was a chapter of accidents. In the fifth lap ait the back of the track Bate collided with McCombe and fell, putting himself out of the race. Ater entering the straight in the same lap a pedal broke on Fraser's machine bringing that rider down, together with Lilly and Clarkson. Lilly remounted and Clarkson followed soon after. In the next lap the back tyre of McCombe'a machine burst, and it was some little time - before he could get another machine. As T. Clarkson and had retired, ifc left only Boyd and Wilson really in the race. These two rode together, Boyd making the pace. Wilson came with a fast spurt at the entrance to the straight, and won by a yard, Clarkson finished, third, McCombe fourth and Lilly fifth. Time, Bmin 27 l-sth sec. Boyd takes first money with 39 points, Wilson second with 37 points, Lilly third with 35 points, Clarkson gained 34- points, and McCombe 32.
Two Mile Roadster Handicap — Final heat, E. Stace, 450 yds, 1; F. Stace, 450 yds, 2; J. B. Clarkson, 300 yds, 3. A. J. Body 250 yds, and T. H. Richards 300 yds, also started. The two Staces were never caught, the winner crossing the tape three yards in advance of his brother, Clarkson about ten yards away third, Body fourth six yards behind. Time, smin 25 3-sth sec.
After the last race W. S. McCombe made a succassful attempt to lower the quartermile record of New Zealand held by T. C. M. Rallinsliaw. McCombe's time was 36 3-sth sec, or 1 3-sth sec under the record. L. B. Sharp then covered the five miles in 13min 55sec or 13sec under the record. As he was going strongly and well Scharp decided to make an effort to reduce the ten mile record. In the last mile the back tyre of his machine burst and he lost 12sec in mounting another machine. He, however succeeded in accomplishing the distance in 28mia 11 3-sthsec, which beats the records held by A. O. Wilmot by lmin 11 3-sthsec.

Scharp £6 and gold'medal, F. Stace £6, R. P. Ciarkson £5, J. B. Ciarkson £3, E. Stace £3, A. J. Body £3, W. G. Williams £2, A. G. Truscott £2, F. C. Forbes, R. L. Adams, S. Cookson and A. R. Barker £1 each.
