AMATEUR ATHLETIC CLUB.
A meeting of the Committee of the Canterbury Amateur Athletic Club was held at ' the Clarendon Hotel last evening, when \ 1 there were present—Messrs O. Hood Wtiliam's, President, in the chair, J. T. Cirierson, H. S. Batchelor, Hon. Sec, P. A. • Laurie, E. R. Webb, J. Moir, J. S. 1 Hawkea. . ■ i A letter waa read from Mr W* F. .Cork, ' Hon. Secretary of the Oamaru Caledonian > Society sports, stating that five events for 1 Amateurs would be inserted in the programme, and if a .good number of entries » -were received this year the Society would . give more events to amateurs next year. - Xhe Kurpw sports would take place on * Jioxing Day, so that men competuig there 1 could also compete at Oamaru on January [ Ist and 2nd. 1 The Selection Committee, through Mr J. ' - .F. Gxierson, submitted the following natnes ' of competitors to represent the Club at the | Ch&mpionahip meeting on ' Februaxy 11th jaext, at Wellington :—IOO yards, W. Hay--1 ward and L. Broad; 250 yards, L. Broad 1 andP. Wood; 440 yards, P. Wood and J. j 1 Fitzpatriok ; lialf mile, C. G. Rees and F. j J- JUeggatt; one mile, C. G. Rees, C. R. ! Clark and j?. J. Leggatit j three miles, C. J G. Rees ; one mile and three mile walks, no 1 selections ; long jump, A. P. Lingard and 1 W. Mendelson ; high jump, W. Mendelson ' ;and W. J. MojLrj putting the stone, W. S. 1 Moir; throwing the hammer; no selection; 120 yards liuraies and 440 yaftts hurdles, ; W. J. Moir and D. Mataon; pole jump/W. 1 M.West. The recommendations of the Selection Committee were approved so far as they ' had been made. The Selection Committee recommended ; the i oUowing ofJiaodicap, events tot the Ti-uU meeting:—looyds, 440 yds, ; half.mile, -one mile, 440 yds nurdlea, one mile walk, hurdles and iiighjittnp. ' The programme was and it was decidea that the meeting should take place in the fourth week in Jauuary. Mr Geieusos, Hon. Secretary, reported that the receipts of the Club up w> date had been £166 16a 6d, and the expenditure £50 10s 7d, leaving a balauce in hand of £116 53 llci., There was a deposit of ,£26 ss, : making a total of £142 iOs lid, against which there Mere liabilities amounting to ;£142 5a lOi .The assets .amounted to £6 fßs7d. * -■■'■'-- .-.•■■■■ After transacting ebme routine business the meeting terminated;
