THE LAND BILL.
EXPECTED; CONFLICT BETWEEN
THE TWO CHAMBERS.
(Br Thleq&aph.)
[raoM era srxcuz. oobusfoksgnt.] WELLINGTON, September 10. The Waste Lands Committee of the Legislative Council have presented a report which is practically advene to ail the vital clauses of the Land BilL They state that they find it impossible to agree on principle to the clauses in question, which include those providing for one man one ran, abolition of the right to acquire freeholds of perpetual leases, taking the choice of tenure from the selector, add giving it to the Minister and the conditions attached to cash purchase. The Committee are of opinion that at this period of the session it would save time to leave the conaideration of the clauses to the Committee of the whole Council. With these exceptions, the Committee recommend that the BUI as amended be passed. There is little doubt that all the salient features of the Bill will be thrown oat of the Council, and this will bring the two Heoeee into violent collision.
