AUCKLAND NOTES.
(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRiIM.) AUCKLAND, Jnne 2. Takapu is a strong favorite at 2 to 1 for the Great Northern Steeplechase, to be run to-morrow. The weather looks threatening. At Ellerslie this morning Takapu and Karewa did good work over two miles. Yum Yum did three rounds on the tan. Bryan O'Lynn and Neck-OT-Notirang did half-pace work, and Duadine medikrm pace work twice round. Sentinel looses, well walking. Average, Try Fluke, and Criminal are amiss. Orion is a strong favorite, for the Hurdles, and will be hard •; to, beat, and Takapu and Omata are most fancied for the Great Northern. The weather promises to be fine.
(FROM OUB CORRESPONDENT.) AUCKLAND, JHine 2. At the time of telegraphing,.''he meteorological forecast for the Auckland Racing Club's Winter Meeting at Ellerslie tomorrow does not look promising. Takapau is still favorite for the Steeplechase, and he is very fit. Tais morning he did threequa_ier pace work with Karewa. ' Yum Yum, who is a bit above herself, did three mileti at half i ace. Sentinel performed walk .ing exercise only; he Looked fresh and well. Omata is looked on as the correct pea from Williamson's stable, who also, has Ingoringi, Nap and Parnell engaged. If Talcapau stands up, I think he will win, and I fancy Theorem for the Hurdles, with Sentinel next best. Try Fluke and Criminal are both amiss. Dolosa is The ground will be heavy going.
