DUNEDIN, May 20.

A Conference was held to-day between a Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and the city and suburban M.H.R-'sand M.L.G'B, when it was decided to take no steps to hold a public meeting in connection with the Otago Central railway extension until the views of the Government are ascertained by an interview with the Minister of Public Works, who is shortly expected in Dunedin, and the Chamber of Commerce was asked to arrange a deputation on the subject. The matter of the proposed Harbor Rating Act was also considered, but it was decided to take no action till further in- - formation was available.
