WItLLTNGTON, May 16.

A deputation from the College and High School Governors waited upon the Minister for Education this morning to ascertain what the Government intended to do in regard to the application made some weeks ago for financial assistance. The Minister said he was unable to decide upon the question himself but would have to Dring it before the Cabinet for decision, and this would shortly be done. A Conference took place to-day between the Education Board and the Teachers' Institute, for the purpose of discussing a modified scientific syllabus for the Board's schools. A set of syllabuses, including chemistry as applied to agriculture, physics and physiology were agreed to, with the understanding that a modification of the syllabus should be allowed in schools in which the average attendance consisted of 100 pupils and under.
