WELLINGTON, May 14.

The immigration and emigration returns for the colony for April show the arrivals to have been 1045, and departures 1656, leaving a balance of 611 against the colony. The chief arrivals were—From New South Wales 590, Victoria 262, United Kingdom 97. The departures were—To New South Wales 813, Victoria 355, United Kingdom 326, Tasmania 60. Two Chinese arrived and one left during the month.
