Monday, April 8. (Before Messrs W. S. Wardell, R.M., and B. Blakely, Mayor;. Fisheries Act. — Joshua Whetau, ErueraTe Aika,Dominick Waikene,Henry Hopa, J. Solomon, and W. Urn, were charged with breaches of the above Act, and tbe Regulations made thereunder, by illegally taking trout ont of the Waimakariri. Mr Spackman prosecuted, Mr Hoban appeared for defendants, and applied for an adjournment, as certain documents which he wished to produce were filed in tbe Supreme Court, and he was unable to put them In that day. Cases adjourned till 20th April. Breach or Impounding Act.—T.

Pow. r was charged with Illegally rescuing cattle. Mr Maude appeared for E. Unwln, ranger, Mr Hoban for defendant. As the authority produced by complainant waa insufficient evidence of his appointment the charge was adjourned for two weeks. - , _. Drunkenness.—E. Cranch for this offence was fined 20s. F. Lambert, on a similar charge was fined ss; a charge of using insulting language against the latter defendant, for whom Mr Maude appeared, was withdrawn. John Dickie was fined 20s for drunkenness and 40s for damaging private property, with the usual alternative.
