VETERAN C.C. v MAYOR AJNI> COUNCILLORS. . A match was played yesterday between the Veteran Cricket Club and the Mayor of Christchurch and the Councillors oa the Midland ground. Hagley Park. The teams were captained respectively py. Mr Wihmer and his Worship the Mayor. Piay was commeuced shortly after eleven o'clock, and was continued until half-past six in order to allow the match to. be played out. The game was a most enjoyable one. the weather being perfect? aud the ground iv good order. At the luucheou, which was catered for by Mr Buggey. Ms Worship proposed the toast of ** Tue Veteran Cricket Club," coupled with, tfte name of Mr Willmer, who suitably responded. The match ultimately resulted in a victory for the Veterans by 53 tan*.
