She reports falling in with a •erere hurricane in the northern part of *he Friendly Group on the 19th "alt. She Jiove to in the storm for thirty-six hours. The hurricane wa*3 experienced iv Tonga And Eastern Fiji, and considerable damage was done. The condemned barque Africa i went ashore at Samoa but is expected to be floated oft. The eastern portion of the £iji Groups and Taviuai are reported to wn been devastated by the hurricane.
