HoBBIBIiS SoICU» IK A. ChTTBCH.—A man, who is supposed to have been a lunatic, committed suicide in an ingenious recently in the cburch of SL Michel, Havre, while evening service wae proceeding. He had saturated his clothing with paraffin oil, and tied round his neck a cord to which were attached under his clothes boxes of matches and bunches of wood chopped fine. He then went to the church* surreptitiously pat some paraffin in a plate under the spot where he was seated, and set fire to it. He was instantly enveloped in flames. The priest threw a quilted wrap round the infatuated man, and succeeded in extinguishing the flames, severely burning his hands in so doing. The stranger by this time, how. ever, was dead. His body, which was removed to the morgue, was disfigured beyond recognition.
