IPBR PRESS ASSOCIATION. | Received January Sth, 11 a.m. London, January 7. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 1,916,000 quarters, and for the Continent 640,000 quarters. The American visible supply is estimated at 25,856,000 bushels.
Bank of New Zealand shares, new issue, £7 10s.
The brokers have refused shippers' demands for a reduction of freight. A Committee will decide on the rates both for steam and sailing freights. Received January Bth. 7.50 p.m. Sydney, January 8. The following are the current quotations for the principal silver mining shares: — Broken Hill Proprietary, £12 10s; British, £3 6s 6d ; Central, _6 lis; North, £1 2s Gd; South, £5 8s 6d; Block H &$ 12s; Block —, £13 2s; Junction, £3 3s. Received January Bth, 8 p.m. London, January 7. Wheat, ex ship Northern Monarch, from Lyttelton, sold at 38s 3d. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message, dated London, 7th January, 1891:--
"Wheat — New Zealand wheat, average, is worth 36s 6d per 4961b."
