ST. JOSEPH'S PAROCHIAL SCHOOL.
Tbe annual distribution of prizes at the St. Joseph's Parochial School at Lyttelton took place on Friday evening. There were present his Worship the Mayor, the Rev. Father in charge of the parish, also the Sisters of Mercy of St. Joseph's Convent. The Rev. Father Laverty, after a few remarks ha?ing reference to "denominational education and the benefits accruing therefrom, briefly invited his Worship the Mayor, who was present, to distribute the prizes to the successful scholars. Ho complimented the children on the high standard* of passing forthe ;*ear,an& also for their good attendance to school duties. The prizes were then distributed, and the proceedings then terminated with cheers for the' Mayor and -Mayoress, Father Laverty, and the teachers of the schooL The following is the prize list ':-—■■ Standard Walsh, Wllfride Harrington (his Worship the Mayor's gift), Johanna Krebs, Maud O'Brien, Mary Radovadich, Susanna Parlett, Mary Walsh, Maud O'Brien, Wilfride' Harrington.
