COURTENAY.
A meeting of this Board was held on Tuesday, December 9th inst. PresentMessrs T. H. Anson (Chairman), J; Gough,,W. McLennan, H. A* Knight, J. Dysart, C. Rudd, and T. Needham. Correspondence was read from the Selwyn County Council forwarding cheque for £10 bonus on account of expenditure incurred in the destruction of small birds for the three months ending September 30th last. Resolved—That the Board agrees to pay Is per dozen for old birds destructive to crops during December and January, the birds to be delivered at the office of the Board oa Monday mornings. From A. J. Bell, offering to pay 2s 6d per acre per annum for lease of reserve 1453 at Weedons for seven years. Accepted. A. Beatty's offer of equal to Is 9d per acre for a similar term, including fencing and clearing gorse off reserve 1522, was accepted. The Clerk wasinstructed to invite fresh tenders for leasing reserves 1538,1539, and 1540. From J. Beatty, complying of the rough state of the road leading from Waireka to Homebush railway station. Surveyor to attend to it. From J. Mackintosh, asking permission to plough the aide of Petersen's xoad for the destruction of gorse. Granted. G. Hutchings waited on the Board respecting the difficulty of approach to his land on either side of the west Coast road on account of the depth of the water table. Surveyor to inspect and make necessary improvements. Besolved that tenders be invited for tarring and painting Waireka foot bridge. The Clerk reported having received £167 rates since last meeting of the Board, and the pay-sheet amounting to £301 5s 10d having been passed for payment the Board adjourned till Tuesday, January 13th nest.
