WELLINGTON, December 8.

"' The Supreme Court was occupied all day hearing the charge of manslaughter preferred against the Chinese Sam Koy and Tom Hung in connection with the Hutt tragedy. Mr Gully prosecuted on behalf Of the Crown, Sir Robert Stout, witb him Mr Coates, for tbe defence. •No new facta Were elicited. No evidence was called for the defence, and Sir B. Stout, in addressing tbe jury, contended that the evidence of the youths did not agree, and also that there was a fourth Chinaman concerned, for whom the police had made no search. The identification of the prisoners he held was not complete, and it was proved thafc.only one committed the stab which caused the death. The Jury must agree that the prisoners had by design agreed to kill Smith, or tbey must,be certain of which prisoner arased the wound before they could return a verdict of jruilty. The jury retired at _J$ pan., and bad not xetamed at 8 p_n. Aft 11.15 rum. the jury announced that -bay. were tenable to agree on a verdict, aad his Honor the Chief Justice ordered that they be locked up for the sight.
