RICCARTON.
The .ordinary meeting of this. Board was held on Monday, December Bch, at the Board's office, Fendalton. Present—All the members, and Mr H. J, Hall, Chairman. The following correspondence was read:—From Alex. Lean, Esq., thanking the Board for the use of the office for a polling booth. From Mr G. Watson, requesting permission to lay pipes across tbe Kaiapoi and Prebbleton junction road for irrigation purposes. Tne Board directed the Surveyor to see Mr Watson on the subject. From a ratepayer of Upper Biccarton, applying for remittance of rates on the score of poverty. On the report of the Collector, it was resolved to remit the rates. From Mr Neave. calling attention to the nuisance caused by stray cattle on the roads in his neighborhood;; It was resolved to inform Mr Neave that a new Banger was about to be appointed. Three applications were received for the appointment of Cattle and Dog Banger, from which T. Potter was selected. The Bate Collector's report was read, which showed an unusually large amount of rates outstanding for so late in the year, and it was resolved to sue without further notice. The Surveyor's report was read aud approved, and he was requested to submit, by next Board day, an estimate of the metal required for the main roads and a list ot the by-roads most necessary to be gravelled before winter. After passing accounts the Board adjourned.
