. [press association telegrams.] AUCKLAND, November 17. Cecilia Cullen, a girl of eifirhteen years Of age, was running upstairs yesterday, when she broke a blood vessel and died almost immediately. Government have received a cablegram from the Imperial Government, confirming the appointment of Mr F. W. Moss as Besident at Raratonga. The death of Edward Davis, a prominent Freemason; is announced. Sir Geo. Grey continues to improve. The delegates to the Baptist Conference were entertained at a picnic to Lake Tak«vpuna on Saturday, at which, there was a large attendance. GISBOENE, November 17. The riot case has been dismissed, terror not having been proved. WESTPOBT, November 17. The coal export for last week was 2307 tons., , TXMAEtJ, November 17. A child, eleven months old, died in convulsions consequent upon being nearly drowned by over balancing into a email tub of water. It apparently recovered, but died twelve hours later. DU;NEDIN, November 17. Mrs Bell, of Pinehill, who was burnt on Wednesday * died on Saturday. A four-roomed house at Sunnyside, owned and occupied by Mrs Jane Beaton, was burned down. It was insured in the Union Office for .2200.
