H.M.S. SERPENT.
OFFICIAL REPORT OF THE DISASTER. (PSB PRESS ASSOCIATION.) Received November 17th. 11 aja. London, November 16. The official report, on the loss of H.M.S. Serpent states that the weather was thick and the ship bumped on the rooks for half an hour, during which the officers remained on the bridge. The captain ordered the crew into the rigging, but a tremendous sea threw the steamer on to her beam ends. All those who were saved belonged to the orew of the life-boat and were wearing life-belts. They were washed overboard, and know , nothing of what occurred after they parted company with the ship. Received November ISta, 1 a.m. London. No vernier 17. Fifty bodies of those lost in the wreck of H.M.S. Serpent have been recovered. Tbe Puke of Edinburgh is expected to preside at the court-martial inquiry into the loss of the ship.
