ST. SAVIOUR'S CHURCH, TEMUKA.
The annual meeting of parishionertook clace on Thursday evening. The Rev. T. A. Hamilton presided, .and submitted his annual report. The services at the parish church and at St. John's, Winchester, had been fully maintained with the assistance of Messrs H. J. Gladstone and R. Pinckney, the lay readers. An additional lay reader having been required, Sir Wm. Blunden had been inducted to the office. The attendance had been fairly good. Regular services were held at Rangitata Island, Rangitata South and Waahdyke. Wednesday evening services were maintained throughout the year, and special services during Advent and Lent. There had been 55 baptisms 6 marriages, and 15 burials during the year, and 23 persons had been confirmed. Mesdames Austin, Dunford, Davey, and the Misses Sweet, Cop pin, and Mehrtens were thanked for their services as distributors. The Bible class at the State school had been iield every Friday for the past seven years under the charge of His 3 Phillips, whose services received his hearty appreciation. The Sunday schools were in excellent working order, and were doing good work under the superintendence of Mr R. Pinckney at Teinuka and Mr R. Smith at Wincnester. The number on the rolls were 16J and 68 respectively. The teachers at Terauka number 18, and at Winchester y. The Churchwardens' report showed that the church was free of debt, and had a balance in hand of £199 89 lid. There had been a serious falling off of revenue from various sources, and the parishioners were urged to give this matter their consideration. Thanks were accorded to Mr C. J. Rayner and family and' to all church workers, for their assistance during the year. The balance-sheet showed a total revenue to the general account of £410 18s 4d, made up principally as follows:— Balance in hand, £1114s 6d; general offer tories, £75 7s 8d; outlying districts, £3 16s Id; special offertories, £20 9s; nett proceeds of Building Society's shares, £185 4s lOd; collected on account of Sunday school, £11 Is 6d; bazaar proceeds £77, with a balance from 1889 bazaar of £10 7s Bd. The expenditure amounted to £202 2s sd. The reports and balance-sheet were adopted, Mr Talbot recording the parishioners' high appreciation of Mr Piuckney's (the churchwarden) services. The Sunday school report was then read. Thanks were given to the staff and all who had helped in other ways. The following officers were then appointed :■— Clergyman's Churchwarden, M r "•■ Cathro; Parishioners' Churchwarden, Mr R. Pinckney; Vestrymen, Messrs Talbot, Langrldge, Dann, J. _L Walker, Comer, Mason, E. Whitehead, J. Pilbrbw, •A. Nicholas, and JB. Chapman. Votes of thanks were accorded to the incumbent and Mrs Hamilton, to the lay readers, organist, verger, choir, Sunday, school teachers, and church workers, and the Benediction having been pronounced the meeting terminated.
