News received from the New Hebrides reports severe weather having been experienced there. During a gale at Mallicolo the labor schooner Eliza Mary, with seventy-nine souls on board, was wrecked. The first boat launched from the ill-fated vessel was dashed to pieces, and four Europeans were drowned. The other ocoupants of this boat were natives, and they were either drowned or killed by hostile natives on the shore. Another European ' was drowned •' in attempting to swim ashore. One of the natives managed to fight his way through to the missionary station add secure assistance for the; remainder. Also gether, forty-seven s n&tjives; perished. The names oithei Europeans drowned were Holt, Sinclair and Dibbs. i.' , who stuck to the wreck were rescued. ,

The ketch Adams was wrecked at the same time and place, and three natives were drowned. The schooner O. Walker was wrecked at the Loyalty Group but no lives were lost. Received April 4th, 1.15 a.m. Sydney, April 3. The majority of the victims of the wreck of the labor schooner, Eliza Mary, were tomahawked by the natives after reaching the shore.
