A NEW SHEEP-SHEARING MACHINE.

Some time ago. as will be remembered* , the Wolseley Sheep-Shearing Machine, which introduced quite a revolution into the shearing of sheep, was tried in Christ* church. Now there is a new candidate for public favor in tho shapo of the Howard-Geddes' machine, a trial of welch; has been arranged to take place at an early date in the Canterbury Wool Stores. Mr D. Brown, who has come on here to arrange for the trial, says:—" The machine claims the following points over any other machine:—lt is driven by flexible rods from overhead gear, instead of tfce catgut flexible cord used in other machines. The cutting is arranged similarly to that used in other machines, with the exception of the flexible rods, which give greater durability. The shear is also simpler la construction internally. The trial, which will be held in the Wool Store of Messre H. Matson and Co, (associated with th© National Mortgage and Agency Company), will take place oa or about the loth. This trial \vill be thoroughly exhaustive, kwysraueh as we shall try it over merinos, loagwools, and lambs, so that ownera of any of these classes of sheep can judge for themselves of the quality of tne work. The machine has.been on view at. th« Dunedin Exhibition,. and has been in. spected by a number of prominent aheeefarmers there.' "
