Earthquake Predictions. — Professor Palb, the eminent astronomer and meteorologist, whose predictions of atmospheric and terrestrial disturbances last year will be remembered, has just drawn up a list of " critical" days for next year. These he divides into three classes, according to the intensity of the expected disturbance. In the first class the critical days are expected to be as follows, these being also given in the order of their anticipated severity :— Sept. 28th, Aug. 30th, Feb. 19th, March 20th, Jan. 20th, July 31st, and Oct. 28th. For the second class he gives the following dates .—April 19th, April sth, May 4th, June 3rd, July 2nd, Oct. 13th, Nov. 12th, and Dec. 12th. The days of the third class are.—-Sept. 14th, Nov. 26th, May 18th, Feb. sth, Aug. 15th, Dec. 26th, Jan. 6th, Jane 17th, and July 17th. Thus the day of severest disturbance should be Sept. j 28th, and that of the least July 17th.
