Mr Maitland, Chief Commissioner, and Mr Clark, with the Chief Surveyor, have left town to classify land in about thirtynine runs, the leases of which fall in in March, 1891. For the Matriculation Examination of the New Zealand University there are 124 candidates, of whom 56 are young women. There are 13 candidates for the Junior Scholarship and 15 for the medical preliminary,
DUNEDIN, December 9,
The body of H. M. Adair, a well known draughtsman in Q'ieenstown, and Forest Banger under the Government, was found floating in the Wakatipu Lake this morning. . There are thirty-six entries from Dunedin for the championship at the Athletic gathering here on Saturday next. £Land and Sea is defunct.
