ENGINEERS , DEMANDS. Sydney, December 9.
The engineers on the intercolonial steamers demand that the cbifcf engineer shall be absolute in the engib/- ,- room, and the captain of the ship shall not be permitted to interfere with him in any way. The owners decline to tolerate such an arrangement, and it is feared a difficulty will arise.

SIR W. ROBINSON. Adelaide. December 9.
Sir W. Robinson, who lately has, held the position of Acting Governor of Victoria, has sailed for England, he having been relieved by the arrival of the Earl of Hopetoun. The principal reason of hie visiting tbe Old Country is on private business, but while there Sir William will assist in furthering the Constitution Bill of Western Australia. Before leaving he expressed the hope that the vexatious duties now existing between the various colonies would give way to intercolonial freetrade.
