RE-DISTRIBUTION OF PORTFOLIOS.
[Bt Tkl-eqkafh.] [ff&OH OUR COBSSSPOITDBirr.I WELLINGTON, Ootober 16. The Ministerial reeonstituticn was completed this evening. It i 9 on the lines already telegraphed as probable. The Premier hands over the Post Office and Telegraphs to Mr Mitchelson, who relinquishes the "Works to Mr Fergus, who r esigns Justice and Defence to Captain Russell, while the latter also becomes Colonial Secretary, and Mr Richardson transfers Mines tc Mr Fergus, but assumes the new portfolio of Agriculture, Mr Hislop talcing Education and the new portfolio of Charitable Aid. The Ministry as reconstructed is, therefore, as follows t— Premier, Commissioner of Customs and Stamps, and Minister of Mines—Sir By. Atkinson. Postmaster-General and Minister for Native Affairs—Hon. £. Mitchelson. Colonial Secretary, and Minister for Defence and Justice —Hon. Capt. Bussell. Minister for Public Works and Mines— Hon. T. Fergus. Minister /or Lands, Immigration and Agriculture—Hon. G. F. Eichardson. Minister for Education and Charitable Aid—Hon. T. W. Hialop. Attorney-General—Hon. SirF.Whitaker, M.L.C. Without portfolio—Hon.S. C. J. Stevens, M.L.C. Tiie arrangement will be gazetted so soon as the formal appointments under the Governor's sign manual are received from Nelson. The Premier was unable to start for Taranaki to-day, and leaves by the 6.50 a.m. train to morrow, going as far as Wanganui, and proceeding to New Plymouth next day. The re-distribution of portfolios has been decided as follows:—Premier, Colonial Treasurer, Cotnmiss : oner of Stamps, Minister of Marine, Commissioner of Trade and Customs, Sir Harry A. Atkinson; Postmaster-General, Commissioner of Telegraphs, and Minister of Native Affairs, Hon. E. Mitcheleon; Minister of Public Worke and Mines Department, Hon. T. Fergus; Minister of Agriculture and Lands, Hon. G. F. Richardson; Colonial Secretary, Minister of Defence, and Minister of Justice, Capt. Russell; Minister "of Education, Hon. T. Hislop. (Captain Bussell was sworn in as a member of the Government this morning.
