RICCARTON.
The ordinary meeting of this Board was held on Monday, October 14th, at the office, Fendaltou. Present —All the members, and Mr H. J. Hall, chairman. The following correspondence was read. From the Auditor, Wellington, requesting payment for auditing the accounts of th'e Board, JBI 13s 4d, for the year ended 31st March,-1889. It was resolved to remit the amount. From Mr \V. G. Brittan, agent for Christ's College, withdrawing the offer previously made for giving land from R.S. 323 to vfiden the Harewood and Fendalton Junction road. From the Selwyn County Council, asking what amount has been expended in the destruction of small birds from June Ist to September 30th, 1889. Referred to the Clerk. From a ratepayer of Upper Biccarton, requesting the Board to remit her rates on account of poverty. The Collector having reported on this and another case from the same neighborhood, it was resolved to remit both rates. From Charitable Aid Board, inclosing statement of accounts for the year ended March 31st, 1839. From the Selwyn Counly Council, in reply, stating that the crossing over the race on the West Coast road had been repaired. A. petition was received from Messrs Bruges, Shaw, Beswick, and seven other ratepayers, asking for a footpath on Helraore road, Merivale. Resolved that the Surveyor examine and report cost, &c, at next meeting. Messrs Homer and Tubman waited on the Board, and pointed out the necessity for ailing up the ditch on the Fendalton and Harewood Junction road, past the late Mr Keece's land. The Board would prefer to see this road widened, and after considerable discussion the following resolution was carried unanimously: — That, on the owners of R.S. 330 conveying twenty-five links of land to widen the road past the said sec* tion, the Board will form the road with a footpath to its full wid fch (seventy-flve links). The deputation promised to interview the owners of the land, and report result at next meeting. The report of the Committee appointed to examine the drainage referred to by Mrs Ballaotyne and Mr Durey was read, and it was resolved to reply, that in the opinion. of the Board the waterrace which is now btiug made will remove all cause of complain r,. The condition of portions of the Kaiapoi and Prebbleton junction road having been brought before the Board, it was resolved that Mr Nun week and the Surveyor examine »nd report. The Surveyor's. report was read and approved. Accounts were passed, and the Board adjourned until Monday, the 4th November, at nine o'clock.
