The following Bills were passed through Committee without amend-: ment: The Kum<u*a Sludge Bill, Educational Endowments Bill, Karamu Reserve Bill, and Ongakatea Empowering Bill. The Ngapara and Waipiro Further Investigation Bill was considered in Committee, and passed with several amendments and some new clauses. The Naval and Military Settlers aad Volunteers' Lands Claims Bill was read a second time. The Native Lands Frauds Prevention Bill was further considered in Committee, read a first time, and passed. In reply to a question Mr Fergus deniedj that it was true, as stated in a Wellington paper, that the officers who had recently been promoted by the Defence Minister were provided with uniforms obtained from England at a cost to the colony of £960;
