WAIMAKARIRI HARBOR BOARD.
The monthly meeting of this Board was held on Monday. Present—Messrs Hansen (Chairman, pro tern.), Evan*, Fraser, Horrell, Mathews, and Smethurst, Leave of absence was granted to Mr Moore. Telegrams were read from the Chairman of the Harbors Committee of the Legislative Council, asking for a list of the Board's tenants, area of endowments, debts and general condition of estate, and what works were In progress or had been finished. A suitable reply having been sent the Board approved of same. A letter from the Marine Department re liability of vessels being towed was received. Copies were ordered to be sent to the pilot and to masters of vessels concerned. Tenders were accepted for right to cut willows and for grazing on a small section. The Pilot reported that the bar had been sounded, and that there was a depth of lift at high water spring tides. The Works Committee reported that three small groins had been put in the river, and the first groin lengthened. The work already done had been successful In Improving the channel. The report was approved. The Treasurer reported a credit balance of £80 4a Id. Accounts, £19 I3s 6d, were passed, and the Board adjourned.
