A SHIPPING CASE.

[PRESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.] AUCKLAND, August 6. A case of interest to shipping people and merchants came on for hearing at the R.M. Court to-day. Messrs T. and S. Morrin brought an action against Captain Hall, of the ship Blair Drummond, to recover damages for injuries sustained by iron pipes by breakage on the voyage out from London, alleged to be caused by negligence. Mr Button appeared for plaintiffs, and Mr Theo. Cooper for defendants. The case broke down, because one of the witnesses deposed that some of the pipes had evidently been cracked at the foundry before shipment in London, and the cracks filled with tar. Judgment was given for defendant. In two other cases of a similar character against Captain Holl judgment was given for defendant, as negligence or improper stowage had not been shown.
