RIFLE SHOOTING.

C.W.M.C. RIFLE CLASS v CHRIST-

CHURCH RIFLES.

A match was fired between teams of NiS&Shristchurch Rifles and Christchurch Working Men's Rifle Class on the Morri.stube runge in the hall of the Club on Saturday evening. Each team numbered fifteen men, seven shots each, medium Snider riiie*. Notwithstanding the inclemency of the weather there was a large number of visitors and members present, who took Keen interest in the shooting. Mr A. Skeen was marker and Mr G. Woodrough scorer. Sergeant Cole had charge of the Rifles' team, and Mr Scull (captain) the Class. Some very eood scoring was obtained by members of the Rifles, and the average of the Class was excellent. The totals made were—Class, 461; Rifles, 411; being a majority of 50 points for the Rifle Class. The scores were as follows:— C.W.M.C. Rifle Class-W. Scull 34, J. Gray 33, O. W. Turpin 33, P. McAnnally 32, F. Robbins3l, G. Balfour 31, W. Baker 30, S. W. Neate 30, C. A. Lees 30, W. Bailey, jun., 30, W. B. Scott 30, J. Kermode 30, J. P. Kissell 29, W. Garrard 29, G. B. Wakelin 29; total 461. Christchurch Rifles — Corporal W. Thompson 33, Private Foster 33, Corporal Breen 31, Lance-Corporal Dennis 30, Private Meddings 39, Private Treweek 29, Sergeant Cole 23, Sergeant Sandford 28, Private Watts 28, Private Askew 26. Private E. T. Brunsden 25, Corporal Creswell 23, Private Millar 23, Private C. Brunsd&n 22, Private Batchelor 22; total 411.
